MCC Asset Management Inc. O/A Oppono Lending Company(“Oppono”, “us”, “we” and “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. 

This Privacy Policy explains how Oppono collects, uses, and discloses personal information on https://www.oppono.com (the “Site”). 

By using our Site, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.  To the extent you provide us personal information about an individual other than yourself (for example, in the context of a mortgage broker, if you provide us personal information relating to an applicant you are representing) you represent and warrant to us that you have obtained all necessary consents and authorizations under applicable privacy and data protection laws from that individual to disclose his or her personal information to us and permit us to use and disclose such information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact our Privacy Officer at the address provided below. 

We reserve the right to change the terms of this Privacy Policy at any time. When we make changes, we will revise the date at the top of this Privacy Policy. If we make any material changes to the Privacy Policy, we will notify you by prominently posting a notice of such changes on our Site or by sending you an email. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy whenever you visit our Site.  

What personal information do we collect from you, and why?

“Personal information” means any information that can identify an individual, either on its own or in combination with other information in our possession. 

We may collect the following kinds of personal information from you when you visit our Site or use any of the services offered through the Site (the “Services”):

  • Account Information: We collect personal information that you provide to us when you sign up for an Oppono account. This includes your name, mailing address, email address, mortgage agent license, mortgage brokerage license, IP address and phone number.
    We use this information to create and manage your account, enable you to use the Services offered through the Site and to communicate with you. We may also use this information, together with other information, to generate aggregate, anonymized data about the use of, and interaction with, the Site.
  • Applicant Information: If you use our mortgage application tool (the “Tool”),you will submitcertain information relating to you or an individual or individuals you represent who is/are looking to finance or refinance a property (each an “Applicant”). Such information may include:
    • An Applicant’s first and last name, email and phone number 
    • The address of the Applicant’s primary residence, business and/or property being purchased/refinanced (each to the extent applicable) and the estimated financial value of any of the foregoing addresses
    • An estimated range of the Applicant’s credit score 
    • The requested mortgage amount

In addition, we may obtain additional information about an Applicant from third parties in the event the Applicant applies for financing with us. Such information may include the Applicant’s credit score.

We use this information to generate recommendations of the products and/or services that may be of interest to an Applicant. In the event an Applicant makes an application for financing with us, we will also use this information to assess the Applicant’s application and, if financing is provided, administer the financing and our associated relationship with the Applicant.  

What other information do we collect from you, and why?

As you use our Site, we may collect other non-personal information, such as information about how you use our Site. We use this information to maintain and improve our products, services, and technologies. 

How does Oppono use cookies and other similar technologies?

Cookies: Oppono uses “cookies” to allow you to sign into your account and to help personalize and improve your online experience. A cookie is a small text file that is downloaded to your computer or device when you visit certain websites. Cookies allow us to identify registered users when they return to the Site and retrieve their past activity and preferences.  

Cookies also allow us to deliver personalized content to you, including personalized search results and targeted advertising. Oppono works with third party partners who use cookies on our Site to:

        • measure and analyze aggregate usage and volume statistical information from our users on our Site. Information gathered may include, but is not limited to, activity of the user browser when the user is visiting the Site, the site path of users, general information regarding the visitor’s internet service provider and host, and the time users come to the Site;
        • evaluate user traffic and behavior on the Site to compile activity reports for our internal use only;
        • conduct research and diagnostics to improve our products and services; and
        • identify users arriving at the Site via a referral from an affiliate website or sponsored link.

Web Beacons: In addition to cookies, we may use other technologies such as single-pixel gifs (also known as web beacons) on the Site and in our promotional e-mail messages. When you click a link on a page with a web beacon, we may record your response in order to customize our offerings to you. Web beacons allow us to measure the actions of a user opening the page that contained the web beacon. We use web beacons to help us understand how many users have visited certain pages or have opened messages or newsletters. This helps us improve your user experience and manage content on our Site. 

Third-Party Analytics. We also use automated devices and applications, such as Google Analytics (https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245) (to opt out, go here (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) ) to evaluate usage of our Site.  We use these tools to obtain aggregated statistical information about the use of our Site to help us improve our Site, performance and user experiences.  These analytics providers may use cookies and other technologies to perform their services, and may combine the information that they collect about you on our Site with other information that they have collected about you from your use of other sites.  This Privacy Policy does not cover the collection, use and disclosure of the tracking data collected by third party analytics providers: for further information please see the relevant party’s privacy policy. 

How can you accept or decline cookies?

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies. Please be aware that the Site is optimally designed to operate with cookies enabled in your internet browser, and disabling cookies may negatively impact your experience of the Site. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to sign in or use other interactive features of the Site that depend on cookies, but you will be able to perform basic navigation through the Site. 

Where do we process and store your personal information?

Some of the parties to whom we may provide personal information may be located in jurisdictions outside your jurisdiction of residence. For example, we are headquartered in Canada and some our data centers are located in the United States. As a result, personal information you provide to us will be used, stored and/or accessed in Canada and the United States and possibly other jurisdictions.  Please note that when such personal information is located outside of your jurisdiction of residence, it will be subject to the laws of the country in which it is situated and these jurisdictions may not have an equivalent level of data protection laws as those in jurisdiction of residence. 

When will we share your personal information with third parties?

Except as set out in this Privacy Policy, Oppono does not disclose or sell personal information to any third parties. We may, however, share personal information in the following circumstances:

Affiliates: We may share personal information within our corporate group for the purposes contemplated in this Privacy Policy.

Service Providers: Oppono may disclose personal information to third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf. For example, we hire third-party service providers to handle provide data storage, assist in marketing and so forth.

Appraisers: We share an Applicant’s name, address and contact information with a property appraiser to the extent: (i) a broker requests an appraisal through the Site or (ii) an Applicant applies for financing and we require a property appraisal in connection with that application.

Other: In the event of any acquisition or sale of Oppono and/or its assets, we may be required to disclose personal information to a purchasing entity. We may also transfer personal information in the unlikely event of Oppono’s insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership. We reserve the right to disclose personal information if required or permitted to do so by law.

How do we keep your personal information secure? 

We take the protection of personal information seriously. We employ a range of safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss and theft as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, and modification, including physical, organization and technological measures, commensurate with the sensitivity of the personal information. Our employees have access to personal information only on a strict need-to-know basis, are trained in the proper handling of such information, and are required to keep such personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which it was provided.

Where we use service providers who might have access to personal information in order to assist us in offering and administering the Site or conducting our business, we require them to have privacy and security standards that are comparable to ours. We use contracts and other measures with our service providers to maintain the confidentiality and security of personal information and to prevent it from being used for any other purpose.

Please be aware that no data security measures can guarantee 100% security. You should also take steps to protect against unauthorized access to your password, phone, and computer by, among other things, signing off after using a shared computer, choosing a robust password that nobody else knows or can easily guess, and keeping your log-in and password private. We are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or compromised passwords or for any activity on your account via unauthorized password activity. 

How can you access, update or delete your personal information?

Subject to requirements under applicable law, you may access, update and/or delete personal information that you have provided to us by contacting our Privacy Officer using the contact information provided below. 

How long do we retain your personal information?

We will only retain personal information as long as is necessary for the fulfillment of the purposes for which it was collected or as otherwise required by law. Your personal information is securely stored until such time as it is no longer required, after which it is destroyed, rendering it unable to identify you.
